Online Mandarin Chinese Lessons
Why Learn Mandarin?
China past and present development is unique. The arts, the inventions, its founding philosophies still influence today's society. By learning Mandarin, you will immerse yourself in one of the oldest civilizations in the world.
20.4% of the world's population speaks some form of Chinese. Mandarin is the official language of the People's Republic of China, Taiwan and Singapore. It is spoken to a lesser extent in Hong Kong where Cantonese is in use. In Asia, Mandarin has become the language of communication, especially in business.
Mandarin is not a difficult language. It is simply different. There are few grammatical inflections: no gender, no singular or plural, no conjugation. The word order remains the same in assertions, negations or questions.
Writing and pronunciation are the only real challenge. Mandarin is a tonal language. One must therefore work on the pronunciation in order to avoid misunderstandings. As to the writing, no need to be good in drawing in order to write well. Chinese calligraphy will improve memory and deduction skills.
